Welcome to my website. This is the place if you want to keep up with what I am doing these days. Read my Blog to get the latest updates.

You can also find some freebies. One complete short story titled “The Longest Night” deals with what might have happened at Snaith Priory during the Reformation. This is free to read.

My Story

I have always been an avid reader and my tastes are eclectic. During my childhood I was encouraged by my parents to read. “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” by Jules Verne is the first book I can ever remember borrowing from the library. Primary school introduced me to the delights of Alan Garner, but things changed when I was sixteen and read, for the first time, “The Lord of the Rings” by JRR Tolkien. I wanted to be a writer.

Although I did write, work and real life got in the way and, despite writing many technical manuals and marketing materials, I could never scratch the fiction urge.

I retired at the age of 52, and it took a while to settle into a new way of life. My understanding and very lovely wife allowed me to start a Master’s degree in Creative Writing and, since then, I have never looked back. I graduated with Distinction, and a ready supply of stories already written.

I love twist endings and my first book, “A Strange Turn of Events” sees me exploring this genre with a collection of short stories. Think Inside “Number 9”, “Black Mirror” and “Tales of the Unexpected”. The stories deal with questions of social issues and identity, and are set in the past, present, and the near future.

I am also working on two novels.

If we always knew what was coming next, life would be very boring. Seek the alternative path, and be excited by the new choices available.
