Five of these stories were used for my dissertation for the second year of my Masters programme.
I have always been a fan of stories with a “twist”. Inspiration came from TV programmes like “Inside No. 9”, “Black Mirror” and “Tales of the Unexpected”, along with books by Roald Dahl and O. Henry, masters of this craft.
My stories cover a range of subjects which deal with social commentary, identity and family, and are written in a wide selection of styles which includes:
- general fiction
- historical fiction
- sci-fi
- mild supernatural (I am a wuss and don’t do horror!)
- fantasy
- thriller
There are always clues for those who want to try to work out the ending – nothing is presented with a deux ex machina.
“Overall, a satisfying collection of stories reminiscent, in some ways, of 1950s pulp fiction but with some 'Black Mirror' (esque) contemporary/near future elements and social commentary. Enjoyable. Entertaining. Clean, efficient, well-controlled prose. Easy to read. Well-presented. Nicely done!”
